This is the picture of me in my Harley coat on the beach of Texas in Jan 08.  I learned to

ride in 03 at the encouragement of my husband as I never rode my own bike before.  I took

the course and gained confidence.  I started on a Rebel 250, moved to a 650 Shadow

and then to my 06 Fat Boy.  I would encourage other women to start small and move

up when they are comfortable.  Riding is such a contrast to my career image of being a

VP at Pathways...but in many ways it's the same...it takes focus and certain amount of risk

to do both.  My other interests are our six grandchildren and their parents, of course.

I was born a farm girl turned Women On Wheels® at age 40!!  I had ridden as a passenger since age 16.  I still enjoyed riding at age 40 and decided "I can do this myself!"  (I think it is because I need to be in control!)   On my 40th birthday I purchased a 1999 Harley Davidson 883 Sportster and signed up for the Motorcycle Safety class.  My friend Sheryl and my husband Larry were very patient with me as I learned the ropes!  After the "biker-bug" caught me I upgraded my bike to a 2005 Harley Davidson Softtail Deluxe.  I love it--- it has an awesome center of gravity and much more comfortable.  It is my favorite color (blue)

plus the nostalgic look is right up my alley.

There is not a better stress reliever than the air hitting you in the face.  You're out there where you can smell the air, look around and be in control.  When you ride you know why a dog puts his head out the window.

Lady riders come in all shapes and sizes.  My real job is a Registered Nurse.  I work full time in Surgery at the Cass Regional Medical Center in Harrisonville, MO.  I have 3 boys, Jeremy, Kristofer and Kyle.  Two of my boys also ride.  My other hobby is quilting.  I think it must be the humming of the machine.

If you decide to ride, take a Safety Class (that was the best $200 I ever spent).

So come on out and join the fun of the air in your face!!!

Raised on a large dairy farm, I never rode anything but a tractor and a cow once in a while.  Riding a motorcycle was never in my dreams, until

I met and married my husband, Danny.  I rode behind him for approximately 30 years, then decided I was going to try it on my own.  I rode an

"80" Honda for awhile around and around the yard, learning to stop and go, which was quite a joking time for my husband and I.  I dropped that

bike a lot but finally mastered it.  After mastering the ride I took the motorcycle class, that I recommend for everybody!

Our First big ride was of course to "Sturgis".  It was a fabulous trip.  We rode approximately 3,000 miles.  Came home and bought a 2003

Anniversary 883 Sportster.  It was a beauty, gun metal pearl, same color as my husband's Heritage.  Danny on his big bike and me on my little bike

rode many a mile with lots of trips, including Glacier National Park.  4,200 miles round trip!!  I wanted a bigger bike so I bought a new

2006 Heritage, which I am still riding and have put 35,000 miles on it.

To pay for my hobbies, I have 9 horses and barrel race also.  I am a full time registered nurse at Cass Regional Medical Center.  I work in the

perioperative department "and of course I ride my bike to work every chance I get".

I also am a mother to 3 great kids; Carrie, a nurse,  Casey, a lab technician, and Colby, an electrician.  I also have 6 grandchildren,

Shelbie, Jordan (my co-pilot), Jerron, (my husband's co-pilot), Carter, Devon and Justice.

Both of my hobbies give me great pleasure, and both let the wind blow in your face.  Don't ever say you can't do something, when you put your

mind to it and God is there with you, because you can!

Take the motorcycle class and get out there and ride!  Be  Safe!!

If someone had told me a decade ago that I would be riding motorcycles (on my own, mind you!) I would have laughed.  BUT I AM!!

Mostly due to my Late Husband, Bill.  I rode behind him for a few years and he told me once if I ever "twisted my own throttle" I'd be hooked......

He was right.   Being a tomboy most of my life this has come SO natural.  My Dad was a race car driver in the Midwest back in the 50's

and such, so again this is something he would have loved too.

I have trained and broke horses for years with my late husband and lived on a farm for the past 20 years, drove tractors, trucks,

trailers, etc.  But riding a motorcycle has to be the top of my Accomplishments List of my life.  (Next to my kids, 2 sons and 1 daughter,

all college graduates).  After my Safety Course I started riding an 81 Yamaha 1100 XS.  Put 10,000 miles on that bike and then we got my

current bike, a 1999 Kawasaki Drifter 1500.  (Looks lik the old Indian).  I have had that bike since 2002.  LOVE IT!!!  We have been through

ALOT together.  In the fall of 02, I was in a motorcycle accident (drunk driver) that killed my brother-in-law and nearly myself, but after

rehab I got on and haven't quit yet, despite several replacement parts (on me).  "We" are nearing 50,000 miles together, my "Road Warrior"

and I.  Although we have recently purchased another bike, 06 Road King, the Drifter is STILL my main ride.

Thank Goodness I found someone else who LOVES motorcycles and we have ridden all over together; new bikes, new experiences,

new adventures around the next curve.  I am thrilled to be in this group and to have met these Gals!

Like it has been said before, "you don't see a bike outside a Therapist's Office".  NOW I know why!!

GET OUT THERE AND RIDE!!!

I started riding (as a passenger) at 15 years old when my brothers had their bikes.

I stopped when raising my children and was about 30 when I got my dirt bike, a 175cc Bridgestone.  I rode this bike for a while, and eventually sold it.  I rode off and on for many years and then in 2005 bought my first trike, a 1997 Boss Hoss v6 automatic trike.  I loved this trike, but it was too much for me and I then bought my current 2006 GL1800 Goldwing trike.  This will probably be the last vehicle I own, as this is my dream bike.  It rides like a Cadillac and is just as expensive!!  I am retired and most of my time is spent with the ladies in our Chapter of Women On Wheels®.   I have 3 children and 15 grandkids that I adore!  But my extra time is spent riding my trike.
